The Hofreite Jäger is a building complex from Neu-Anspach in the Hessenpark that was rebuilt in 2002/2005 and serves as a "Taunushaus" to present topics from the Taunus .

The building

The Hofreite Jäger was built around 1800 at Langgasse 16 in Anspach. In 1995 the property was dismantled and moved to Hessenpark. The house was rebuilt in 2002 and the barn in 2005.

The large main building testifies to the relative wealth of its builders. This prosperity is also reflected in the received tax lists of the municipality. The building was owned by the Jäger family until it was demolished.

When rebuilding the Hessenpark, it was based on its appearance in 1882. The authenticity of the gray-blue coarse plaster and the color design of the interior is proven by traces found.

When building the house, wooden beams from a previous building were used. Two baroque doors also come from an older building. Originally the wooden beams were painted light turquoise. From 1920 the beams were painted in light brown color and from 1953 in white oil paint.

Today's use

The house serves as an exhibition space for display boards and exhibits relating to the Taunus. The geology of the Taunus is shown on the ground floor and the Taunus is presented as a living and cultural space. The Taunus Club is on the upper floor . Members of the Taunus Club look after the house and are available for explanations on weekends.

The barn presents the medieval glassworks in the Taunus as they are shown in archaeological investigations at glassworks . Medieval glass finds and a life-size representation of a glassworks in the Emsbachtal are shown .
