Holger Pohland

Holger Pohland (born April 5, 1963 in Dornreichenbach (today Lossatal )) is a former German athlete who competed for the GDR until 1990 .

Holger Pohland became Junior European Champion in the 110-meter hurdles in 1981 . At the European Championships in Athens in 1982 he was eighth in 13.89 s after 13.62 s in the intermediate run.

In the indoor 60-meter hurdles, Holger Pohland won bronze at the 1986 European Indoor Championships in Madrid in 7.71 seconds behind the Spaniard Javier Moracho (7.67 seconds) and the Italian Daniele Fontecchio (7.70 seconds). At the European Indoor Championships in 1989 in The Hague, he finished second. In 7.65 s he was only beaten by British Colin Jackson in 7.59 s. At the 1989 World Indoor Championships in Budapest, Pohland finished fourth in 7.70 s.

From 1977 to 1991 Holger Pohland started for the SC DHfK Leipzig , then for SG Motor Gohlis-Nord Leipzig . He was East German champion in the 110-meter hurdles in 1986 and from 1988 to 1990. In 1985 and 1986 as well as 1989 and 1990 he was GDR indoor champion. In the documents on state doping in the GDR that became public after the reunification , the name of Pohland was also found among the doped athletes.
