Holger Schmidt (business journalist)

Holger Schmidt (born September 25, 1966 ) is a German business journalist .

Life

Schmidt grew up in the Westerwald . As a high school graduate he worked for the " Rhein-Zeitung ". From 1987 Schmidt studied economics . After graduating, he worked at the chair for developing country research at the University of Giessen , where he researched environmental economics and received his doctorate in 1997 with a dissertation on the international distributional effects of climate protection .

Schmidt then worked as a business editor for the FAZ , where he was responsible for the Internet, the environment, energy and video games as well as the weekly special "Netzwirtschaft" until the end of 2011 and coordinated the cooperation between the newspaper and the Internet editorial team in the FAZ's online presence.

In 2011, his blog “Netzökonomie” was named the best business blog.

In 2012 he switched to Focus . In 2017 he switched to the Handelsblatt as a columnist for digital economics.
