history

Hollener Mühle from the west

The mill was first mentioned in a document as owned by the von Brobergen family in 1646, but at that time it was desolate. The first mill was probably at the mill quarry on the current federal road 495 . The second time the mill appeared in the documents in 1694. At the time, Johann Postel was Müller; The documents show that his father Hinnerk and his grandfather Müller were also at the Hollener Mühle. The year 1645 is carved into a beam of the mill. Perhaps the mill was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and then rebuilt. In the middle of the 18th century, the mill was owned by the Dohrmann family and was built at its current location. 1801, the mill was as undershot watermill in framework construction neuaufgebaut, of the truss but the majority no longer exists. From 1821 the Hollener Mühle belonged to the Waller family .

From 1888 to 1920, a windmill was in operation in addition to the water mill . In 1940 the water mill stopped grinding. Afterwards the mill only functioned as an inn. The Hollener Mühle was prepared as a museum mill and is still running.

The mill wheel in the Hollen and Hollnsether coat of arms stands for the Hollen mill.
