The von Brobergen family was a German aristocratic family that came from Brobergen an der Oste .

In 1141 a document from Count Rudolf von Stade mentions that the three brothers Dudo, Adiko and Ricbert founded the Marienkloster in Stade and then received one of the three Brobergen as a fief . At that time, the whole area along the Oste from Graepel to Burweg was meant, it is a Low German field name that describes the mountains in Brook , i.e. in Bruch . But already in 1286 one of their descendants is called Otto de Brocberge , who had his seat on a castle , the borch to brogberghen , which was probably built around 1270 .

The noble family von Brobergen resided on the Holländer Höfe estate; this estate was bequeathed to one of Düring in 1618, who sold it a few years later. The family also had goods in Basbeck , Wohlenbeck , Oberndorf and Estebrügge . The last of the family was Catharina Margareta von Brobergen, who died on December 7, 1745. She lived on the family seat in Basbeck.

For over two centuries, the von Brobergen family was repeatedly involved in feuds with the Marschalck von Bachtenbrock family , who had their headquarters in the neighboring Kranenburg and Geesthof . In addition to the ongoing feuds, there were also several weddings between the families.
