Marschalck of Bachtenbrock is the name of a still continuing Bremen Uradelsgeschlechts .

history

The family is first mentioned in 1142 with Johann von Bachtenbrock . The continuous line of trunks begins with the eponymous Johann von Bachtenbrock , documented 1248–1265, the co-founder of the Marienkloster Stade and his son Sibode Marschalck , documented 1280–1318.

The eldest of the sex had held the hereditary marshal's office in the Archdiocese of Bremen and later in the Duchy of Bremen from 1435 .

On February 26, 1897, the Prussian recognition of the right to reassume the old family name, as Marschalck von Bachtenbrock for the entire family.

The family was divided into two lines in the 16th century:

This line was also divided into the branches Kranenburg , Freiherrenstand 1675, and Hutloh , Freiherrenstand 1711 in the 16th century .

The Chamberlain King Karl X. Gustav and Royal Swedish Court Marshal Balthasar Marschalck were promoted to the Swedish baron status on July 19, 1675 and in 1678 introduced to the baron class of the Swedish knighthood. On April 14, 1652, the royal Danish court squire and later secret council, as well as the last chancellor of the Danish king in Norway , Johann Friedrich Marschalck, received the Danish aristocratic naturalization. On October 14, 1723, the introduction into the aristocratic class of the Swedish knighthood for the royal Swedish major general of the cavalry Franz Christian Marschalck (* 1680; † 1734) followed. His brother, the royal Swedish lieutenant general of the cavalry Carl Gustav Marschalck (* 1664, † 1726) was raised to the rank of baron on March 7, 1711 for military service . On March 19, 1847, the Hanoverian license to use the title of baron for the latter descent was issued.

  • Ovelgönne line

This line remained in the knighthood and is now extinct.

A branch was considered unequal because of illegitimate ancestry . He belonged to Johann Marschalck , 1607–1623 Bördevogt zu Selsingen , his son Johann Adolf Marschalck , 1623–1654 there Bördegraf, and in turn his son Johann Marschalck , 1654–1692 also Bördegraf zu Selsingen. After the latter, the office passed to his son-in-law Angelus Rolap .

The coat of arms is divided in the shield of silver and blue by three ascending points. On the helmet with blue-silver covers of silver and blue across the corner divided buffalo horns, the silver parts of which are each set with three natural peacock feathers, while three golden flames emerge from the blue parts.

The baronial coat of arms (1675) is quartered, with a heart shield like the family coat of arms. 1 and 4 in red a resting crowned lion. 2 and 3 in blue an armored arm, in the bare hand holding a marshal's baton. Three helmets with red-silver and blue-gold covers. On the right the lion growing, holding a silver ball in his right paw.
