Hans G. Trüper

Hans Georg Trüper (born March 16, 1936 in Aumund , now Bremen -Aumund; † March 9, 2016 in Bonn ) was a German microbiologist and historian .

Life

In 1955 Trüper graduated from the Gerhard Rohlfs grammar school in Vegesack .

In 1964 he was at Göttingen University with a thesis on CO 2 fixation and intermediary metabolism in Chromatium okenii Perty Dr. rer. nat. doctorate , in 1971 he completed his habilitation there with a thesis on adenylyl sulfate reductase in phototrophic bacteria. He took over the chair for microbiology at the University of Bonn and founded the institute for microbiology and biotechnology there. In March 2001 he retired. He was a member of numerous national and international professional societies and is the author of more than 200 original publications. In 1987 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences in the mathematical-physical class. On October 22, 2002, the Department of Biology and Chemistry at the University of Bremen awarded him an honorary doctorate for his services .

In addition to his work as a microbiologist, Trüper dealt intensively with the regional history of the Elbe-Weser triangle . He studied part time history among others, Bernd Ulrich Hucker in Vechta and was here in 1998 with a thesis on the ministerials of the archbishopric of Bremen Dr. phil. PhD.

He died on March 9, 2016 in Bonn.
