Engelbert Johann Marschalck von Bachtenbrock (born May 6, 1766 in Ritterhude , † August 25, 1845 in Laumühlen ) was Landdrost of the Landdrostei Stade and landlord of Ritterhude.

Life

Engelbert Johann Marschalck von Bachtenbrock was the son of Friederich Christian Marschalck von Bachtenbrock († 1789), landlord on Klint , and Dorothea Arnoldine von der Hude (1740–1769), daughter of Otto Christoph von der Hude, on Ritterhude-Hudenhof (1700– 1757).

Through his mother, a née von der Hude, Marschalck inherited the noble Hudenhof estate, as well as 2/10 of the noble Fergersberg estate, both of which belonged to the Ritterhude court.

Professional activity

In 1784 Marschalck belonged as a page to the royal court of Brunswick-Lüneburg . From 1784 with the 9th Infantry Regiment, he was stationed in the Netherlands in 1793 and was promoted to captain in 1794.

In 1802 he became district administrator . In 1806 he negotiated personally with the French Emperor Napoleon as the representative of the Hanoverian estates . In 1809 Marschalck became president of the Bremen knighthood and after the end of French rule in 1813 a member of the government college in Stade . In 1818 he became a councilor and president of the provisional government council, and in 1823 he became the first Landdrost of the newly created Landdrostei Stade. He received the title of Privy Councilor .

family

He was married since 1798 to Maria Sophia from the ceiling (1768–1864), with whom he had the sons Friedrich Christian Dietrich (1801–1874), landlord on Laumühlen, and Dietrich Arnold Ludwig (1809–1895), the landlord on Ovelgönne and Nindorf, a royal Hanoverian captain, councilor and hereditary marshal of the Duchy of Bremen .

Marschalck's estate is in the Hadeln district archive in Otterndorf .
