criticism

"Nikolaus Geyrhalter's fantastic documentary Homo sapiens depicts an uncomfortable scenario in an empty world that was recaptured by nature but was once man-made: it is both science fiction and document, at the same time post-apocalypse and present."

- Berlinale Forum

“Documentary filmmaker Nikolaus Geyrhalter uses fantastic images and hypnotic sound design to create the panorama of a world that people don't need, and makes it possible to imagine how it feels and sounds when civilization has outlived itself. He does without comments and thus throws the viewer back on himself. "
