The Honddu [ ˈhɔnðɨ ] ( Welsh Afon Honddu ) is a river in the Central Welsh administrative district of Powys .

It rises in the Mynydd Epynt area and flows south, where it flows into the Usk at Brecon . The approx. 18 km long river has no major tributaries , but numerous streams flow into it. The Honddu Valley is followed by the B4520 B-road , which runs north from Brecon to Builth Wells . The road opens up the hamlets Upper Chapel , Lower Chapel , Pwllgloyw and Llandefaelog , which with the exception of Pwllgloyw are all on bridges over the Honddu.

Brecon Castle - now a hotel - is located on the last crossing of the Honddu before its mouth. The final 1.5 miles of his run is wholly or partially within the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark .
