Hong Kong is a live album by French musician Jean Michel Jarre . It is Jarre's fourth live album and his sixteenth album release. The highest chart placement was in France with 21st place. It contains recordings of a concert on March 11, 1994 in Hong Kong , People's Republic of China - at the time of the concert still a British Crown Colony - which was seen by around 40,000 visitors to celebrate the opening of the new Hong Kong stadium . In addition to classics from previous albums, the live performance primarily includes pieces from the previously released studio album Chronologie .
Specialty
The concert in Hong Kong took place half a year after Jarre's European tour . It was originally planned to record the concert in June 1994 in Düsseldorf, Germany. However, this concert was canceled and various appearances on the European tour and the concert in Hong Kong were combined under the new title Hong Kong . Hong Kong was
initially released as a double CD album with a total playing time of just under 83 minutes. For the remastered version released in 1997 , an intermediate passage was left out and the song Fishing Junks at Sunset was shortened to achieve a playing time of 76 minutes and thus to be able to output the album on just one CD.
