Specialty
When Jarre recorded Oxygène in 1976, his options were limited in terms of both instruments and recording. 21 years later, Jarre used many of the synthesizers and instruments already used in 1976 for Oxygene 7–13 in order to take up the style of Oxygène again. Oxygene 7–13 is, however, partly more dynamic and modern than its predecessor. Jarre dedicated the album to his mentor, the experimental musician Pierre Schaeffer , under whose direction Jarre gained his first experience in electronic music. The Oxygene tour emerged from the album . This was followed by a mega concert in Moscow , Russia , on September 6, 1997 - free of charge for viewers . Jarre performed in front of the state university in front of an estimated 3.5 million guests at the city's 850th anniversary celebration , securing another entry in the Guinness Book of Records . During the concert, a live connection to the Mir space station was established.
