Honorio Alarcón
Honorio Alarcón (born January 1, 1859 in Santa Marta , † May 19, 1920 in Bogotá ) was a Colombian pianist and music teacher.
Honorio Alarcón studied at the Paris Conservatory and from 1881 to 1885 at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Leipzig . As a pianist he received the Mendelssohn Prize .
In 1886 Alarcón returned to Colombia, where he worked as director of the Banda Nacional and later the Academia Nacional de Música . His students included Antonio María Valencia , Daniel Zamudio , Antonio Mar Valencia and Lelio Olarte . Alarcon is considered one of the most important pianists in Colombia.
