Honryō Shinjirō ( Japanese 本領 信 治郎 ; * October 8, 1903 in Tokyo ; † July 24, 1971 ) was a Japanese politician, professor at Waseda University , player and coach of the rugby club of this university.

Honryō Shinjirō attended the first Kyōto business school . After graduating from school, he went to Waseda University . He played in the scrum-half position on his university's rugby team. During an away game in Australia in 1927 he was team captain . In 1928 he became the coach of the Waseda team. He practiced this profession for two season.

Afterwards Honryō Shinjirō was active as a university professor at Waseda University. At that time he won the favor of the nationalist Japanese statesman Nakano Seigō and joined the Tōhōkai party, which he led . Honryō Shinjirō was deputy head of the Propaganda Department ( send-bu ) of the General Affairs Office of the Taisei Yokusankai . After Tōhōkai separated from the Taisei Yokusankai, Honryō Shinjirō took part in the Shūgiin election in 1942 . He ran in the five -seat Tokyo constituency , which included the former Ebara and Toyotama counties as well as the Izu and Ogasawara Islands, and won a seat with the third highest number of votes behind two Yokusankai candidates.

After Tōhōkai was dissolved by the occupation forces in 1945, Honryō Shinjirō led one ( Shin Nihon Kensetsu Dōshikai , 新 日本 建設 同志 会 , Society for the Building of the New Japan) of two movements that arose from Tōhōkai.

After the Second World War Honryō Shinjirō was an advisor to the Democratic Party of Japan and director of the Japanese Rugby Football Union ( Japanese 日本 ラ グ ビ ー フ ッ ト ボ ー ル 協会 ; Nihon Ragubī Futtobōru Kyōkai).
