The Hookeriaceae are a moss - Family of the order hookeriales with mainly tropical distribution.

features

They are small to large plants that form prostrate lawns. The stems have flattened leaves. A central strand in the trunk cross-section is present or absent. The leaves are wide, the tip of the leaf rounded to pointed, the leaf margins flat, entire or serrate. The large leaf cells are almost uniform throughout the leaf. A vein is usually missing. The gender distribution is diocesan or autocratic . The elongated seta is smooth or papillary, the capsule is oval to cylindrical and more or less inclined to pendulous. The lid is conical and often beaked, the kalyptra hat-shaped.
