Hoosier Racing Tire Corp is an American tire brand from a racing tire manufacturer based in Lakeville, Indiana .

The Hoosier Company was founded in 1958 by former racing driver Robert "Bob" Lee Newton and his wife Joyce and specializes primarily in the production of tires for competition use. The color purple for the lettering was taken from the basic color of Bob Newton's racing car, which he drove under starting number 4 in his last Indianapolis race.

Hoosier is the world's largest manufacturer of racing tires for the NASCAR , American Indycar Series (AIS), IMCA , SCCA racing series and for racing tires for global karting and drag racing .

Hoosier Racing Tire produces more than 1000 different types of racing tires. The company operates its own technology center in Lakeville with a special tire test facility for speeds of up to 500 km / h. The main tire plant has been located in Plymouth since 1997 .

Other internationally known racing series that Hoosier equips include the American Le Mans Series , the Grand-Am , USAC , CanAm , Trans-Am , IMSA , or also the AMA , Top Fuel Dragster and also racing series in Europe, such as the BRL V6 .

Hoosier Racing Tire Corp was taken over by the international technology group Continental AG in October 2016 .
