The Hornfels summit is a 1,810 m high mountain in the Usarp Mountains of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the northern part of the Morozumi Range rises south of Mount Van Veen .

Scientists from the German expedition GANOVEX III (1982–1983) made his name.
