Horse's Neck ( english about horse's neck ) is a classic cocktail , the end of the 19th century emerged and as a typical high ball to the Longdrinks belongs. It is made from brandy or cognac and ginger lemonade ( ginger ale ). Bourbon whiskey is also very often used as a basic spirit . The drink owes its name to a thinly sliced, long lemon spiral, the end of which protrudes from the glass and is reminiscent of a horse's head. The International Bartenders Association , an umbrella organization of bartenders associations, leads the Horse's Neck in his list of "official cocktail".

preparation

The cocktail is "built" in a highball glass, ie a tall, medium-sized beaker, that is, prepared directly in the glass and not in a mixing glass or cocktail shaker . Depending on the size of the glass are 4-6  cl brandy or cognac or bourbon whiskey with some ice cubes and one to two Dashes (splashes) Angostura mixed and the glass according to taste at approximately the two to three-fold amount of cooled Ingwerlimonade ( Ginger Ale ) filled up. The use of cocktail bitters gives the drink more depth, with ginger beer instead of ginger ale it becomes spicier. Optionally, a little lemon juice is occasionally added, which makes the drink resemble a buck in its basic structure . As a garnish, cut a long piece of lemon peel with a zest ripper and place it in a spiral shape in the glass, with one end sticking out of the liquid.
