Horst Deichfuß

Horst Deichfuß (born April 11, 1925 in Halberstadt ; † October 6, 1989 in Halle an der Saale ) was a German writer .

Life

Deichfuß was born the son of an official. In 1943 he was called up for military service and was in US and British captivity in 1945/46 .

After his return from captivity, he graduated from high school in 1947 . He then worked as a mail carrier at Deutsche Post . In 1948 he joined the SED . In 1955 he founded a cultural group at Deutsche Post in Halle. In 1961 he completed a distance learning course in postal economics at the "Rosa Luxemburg" engineering school in Leipzig .

From 1963 to 1965 Deichfuß studied at the Institute for Literature "Johannes R. Becher" in Leipzig. In 1965/66 he worked as a consultant for theater and literature at the City Council of Halle. From 1966 to 1969 he acted as district secretary of the Halle Writers' Association. From 1967 to 1972 he headed a circle of writing workers . From 1969 he worked as a freelance author.

In 1971 he was awarded the Handel Prize of the Halle district .

Deichfuß died after a short, serious illness at the age of 64.
