Horst Dietrich Schlemm

Horst Dietrich Schlemm (born April 9, 1919 in Spenge ; † November 24, 2011 ) was a German Lutheran clergyman and trombonist.

Life

Schlemm was born the fourth son of a pastor in the Westphalian regional church . He grew up partly in Wernigerode , where his father later got a pastor's position. After studying theology, he was ordained on April 14, 1953 in Brinkum , where he was introduced as a pastor in 1954. In 1962 he became pastor of the parish in Nice- Upstedt. On October 1st, 1984 he retired, which he spent in Lippoldsberg on the Weser.

Schlemm made particular contributions to the trumpet work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover . During his studies from 1945 to 1953 there were first activities with the Göttingen Trumpet Mission, which he co-founded. As a pastor in Nette, he was part-time trombone attendant for the Hildesheim district of the Hanover regional church. In this function he supervised more than 100 trombone choirs and led the selection choir of the Sprengels. After his retirement he took over the direction of the Oberweser Trombone Choir. Schlemm wrote numerous works on the history of evangelical trombone work, which were published in six volumes from 1989 to 2002.
