Lippoldsberg is a district of the Wesertal municipality in the Kassel district in Hesse . Lippoldsberg is the largest district of the municipality in terms of population and - next to Gieselwerder - one of the two administrative locations.

location

Lippoldsberg is located in the extreme north of northern Hesse in the Weserbergland between Solling (in the north), Kiffing (ridge in the southeast), behind which the Bramwald (in the south-southeast) is, and Reinhardswald (in the southwest). It extends directly south of the Lower Saxon community of Bodenfelde , 6.5 km southwest of Uslar , 7 km east of Bad Karlshafen and 34 km north of Kassel .

Lippoldsberg is located at about 110 to 140  m above sea level. NN on the right bank of the Oberweser , into which the Schwülme coming from the east flows here, which in parts forms the border with Lower Saxony and from which the artificially created Mühlbach branches off above or east of Lippoldsberg.

In Lippoldsberg you can choose the license plates of the district of Kassel (KS, HOG and WOH).

history

At the mouth of the Schwülme in the Weser near Lippoldsberg there was already a ford through the river in early Christian times . There was probably a small settlement here when the Archbishop of Mainz, Lippold von Mainz (from whom the place takes its name), had a small chapel built here in the middle of the 11th century , from which the later Lippoldsberg Monastery emerged .

The Catholic Maria Goretti Church was built in the 1950s .

On February 1, 1971, the two previously independent communities of Lippoldsberg and Vernawahlshausen merged to form the newly founded community of Wahlsburg, which merged with Oberweser to form the Wesertal community on January 1, 2020 .

Lippoldsberg has been a state-approved climatic health resort since 1980 .

Regional train stations are located in Bodenfelde, Vernawahlshausen and Uslar, train stations with stopping of IC and / or ICE trains in Göttingen , Warburg and Kassel.

The next major airports are near Hanover and Paderborn and in Kassel-Calden. There is a small glider airfield in Uslar.

Agriculture is hardly of any importance in Lippoldsberg. The most important employer with over 300 employees is the "Klinik und Rehabilitationzentrum Lippoldsberg gGmbH " located in the Kiffing ridge at an altitude of 200 to 220  m .

Tourism is an important economic factor in the climatic health resort. There are guest beds in hotels, inns and pensions.
