Horst Edig

Horst Edig (born February 25, 1935 in Stettin ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Edig attended elementary school until 1949 and then worked in agriculture for a year. From 1950 he completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator in Bielefeld . By attending evening school , he made up for the advanced technical college entrance qualification. He worked as a lathe operator until 1958 and then studied social work in Speyer . He then worked as a social worker in Frankfurt , at the Neunkirchen ironworks and, from 1968, at the city ​​of Neunkirchen .

politics

Edig joined the SPD in 1969. He was chairman of the SPD city association in Bexbach .

In November 1986 he replaced Peter Springer in the Saarland state parliament , to which he was a member until 1994. From 1991 he chaired the newly established committee for data protection. From 1989 to August 1999 he was also mayor of Bexbach-Mitte.

Personal

Horst Edig is married for the second time and has three children from his first marriage.

Honors

Edig was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit on January 24, 1995 .
