Horst Ehni

Horst W. Ehni (* December 5, 1941 - May 1, 2015 ) was a German sports educator and university professor .

Life

Ehni's doctoral thesis with the title Sport and School Sport: Didactic Analyzes and Examples from School Practice was accepted in 1976 at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . From 1978 he was professor of educational science at the University of Hamburg - elementary school education with a focus on sports didactics at primary level. Between 1999 and 2001 Ehni was director of the Institute for Didactics of Aesthetic Education. In 2007 he retired from university.

Ehnis dealt extensively with the terminology of play in sports didactics. In 2000 he published together with Petra Wolters , Jürgen Kretschmer, Karlheinz Scherler and Willibald Weichert the work Didactics of School Sports . Ehni pursued the question of the connection between sport and war and peace, and wrote the article Structure of Sport Educational Processes - Tasks and Goals for the Sports Pedagogy Handbook published in 2001 . According to Matthias Schierz  , Ehni's thinking was "in the tradition of Ernst Bloch committed to utopia and at the same time leaning towards French structuralism". Weichert described him as a "reminder for theoretical references and for not only serving scientific fashion trends".
