Horst Gabriel (hunting writer)

Horst Gabriel (born September 22, 1925 ; † January 21, 2011 ) was a German forester and hunting writer .

Life

Horst Gabriel was a forest officer and until his retirement in 1990 district manager in the North Hessian forest office Spangenberg .

In addition to five monographic works, he wrote articles for the Jad magazine Wild und Hund in 1959 and numerous articles in the Jäger magazine from 1996 to 2007 . He described himself as a "German patriot ".

He died at the age of 85, leaving behind a wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held in the Spangenberg cemetery chapel. A memorial stone is located in the Ihringshausen cemetery in the community of Fuldatal .

Gabriel had since his youth a member of the hunting community of deer hunters in the marsh forest in Melsungen . The Horst Gabriel hut (940 m) in Spangenberg bears his name.
