The Horst Hansen Trio is a jazz band from Krefeld .
history
The band consists of five members who continue the story of the self-proclaimed forefather of super jazz, the Krefeld trumpeter Horst Hansen. The quintet recorded their debut Party Jazz in 2010 in their original line-up (bass, guitar, drums, piano and saxophone) . It contained jazz standards (like Take Five ), experimental stuff (like a jazz version of Try it out with comfort ) and original compositions. In 2011 he followed in jazzy days around the world , three years later the EP Wild Emotions . The journalist Mojo Mendiola praised the mixture of elements of psychedelic rock , bebop and improvisation in the Rheinische Post . As part of the welcome! Now festival in Theater Krefeld and Mönchengladbach , her third regular album Auf'm Teppich was presented in May 2017 . They are supported by soul singer Flo Mega in the accompanying single, Daring to live .
In 2019, after a line-up, work will begin on the new Abum Live in Japan , which will be released in March 2020 on the Jazzhaus Records label . For this, Hubert is replaced by Heinz on bass and Otto's trumpet takes the place of Eckbert's guitar. The band opens up for the new electronic sounds album. Trumpet, saxophone and drums are alienated by effects pedals and two synthesizers are integrated into the band.
The combination of a lively, rather atypical jazz live show with superficial humor but profound meaning becomes the band's trademark.
The Cologne musicians with Krefeld roots describe their music as heavy "Überjazz".
