Horst Herrlich
Horst Herrlich (born September 11, 1937 in Berlin ; † March 13, 2015 in Bremen ) was a German mathematician . From 1971 to 2002 he was professor of mathematics with a focus on topology and category theory at the University of Bremen .
Life
Horst Herrlich received his doctorate in 1962 on the ability to order topological spaces under Karl Peter Grotemeyer and Alexander Dinghas at the Free University of Berlin, where he also completed his habilitation in 1965 on the subject of e-compact spaces.

Herrlich is considered to be a founder of categorical topology , which deals with questions of general topology with methods of category theory .
