Horst Hirsig

Horst Hirsig (born August 25, 1929 in Lantow , Pomerania ; † January 5, 2019 ) was a contemporary German painter who mainly devoted himself to abstract, non-representational painting.

Life

Hirsig studied 1949–1956 at the Hochschule der Künste (HdK) in Berlin . From 1971 to 1993 he was a university lecturer at the HdK in Berlin, from 1993 to 1997 he was professor at the Dresden University of Fine Arts and headed a class for graphics , painting and other visual media. From 1993 to 1996 he also held the post of rector there .
