Horst Kudritzki (born January 30, 1911 in Königsberg (Prussia) ; † July 2, 1970 in Berlin ) was a German pianist, arranger, composer and band leader of jazz and popular music .

Live and act

After graduating from Realgymnasium in Berlin, Kudritzki studied at the Stern Conservatory with Alexander von Fielitz and Paul Graener (conducting, composition, instrumentation and music history) from 1928 to 1932 ; then he attended the music college until graduation. He initially worked as a processor, arranger and pianist for the record companies Elektrola , Telefunken and Odeon . From 1936 he worked as a freelance bandmaster, composer, arranger and pianist for the Reichsrundfunk . Between 1938 and 1944 he worked as a composer and arranger at the Berlin Scala ; he turned out to be “a swing expert , although his› commercial reputation ‹was in the foreground”. In addition, from 1941 on he arranged swing-oriented pop music for the German Dance and Entertainment Orchestra . Between 1945 and 1950 he was conductor and arranger of the RBT orchestra , which he led together with Erwin Lehn after Michael Jary resigned . After the dissolution of the orchestra, he worked as the musical editor of Bohème Verlag, Vienna, from 1950 and married the singer Gloria Astor . In addition, he worked as a conductor, composer and arranger for the orchestras from FFB , SFB , NDR , WDR and the record companies Elektrola, Telefunken and Bertelsmann. From 1956 he was also a guest conductor of the East Berlin German broadcaster . He also wrote film music ( As great as back then , 1962) and Schlager ( because of you , fairy tales from 1001 nights , from eight to eight ). His grave is in the Grunewald-Forst cemetery .
