Life

Horst Langer, born during the Weimar Republic , earned the title of Dipl.-Ing. and founded the Langer und Friess office as a freelance architect in Hanover together with his partner Andreas Friess in the post-war period .

Langer had built up a private library with around 200 book titles on the subjects of building art, urban development and architecture, which, according to his request , should be passed on posthumously to a group of people "who guarantee professional use". In mid-December 2009, the widow transferred her husband's book collection from Lange's estate to the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim / Holzminden / Göttingen in the presence of Professor Alfred Breukelman , who taught there , who passed the book collection on to the staff and students of the institute promised to make it available in an “appropriate place”.
