Horst Lembke (born October 7, 1930 ) was a football player in the GDR upper league from 1953 to 1960 .

Athletic career

Horst Lembke played his first men's soccer game in 1952 with the company sports association Einheit Ost Leipzig , one of the predecessors of 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . With this team Lembke rose in the 1952/53 season from the second-rate DS league to the league. As an attacking player, he stayed with SC Rotation Leipzig until the end of the season in 1956, playing 68 of 93 possible league games and scoring 14 goals. For his only international assignment he came in 1956 with the Leipzig city selection in the trade fair cup game against Lausanne (6: 3).

1957 Lembke settled in Rostock and continued his football career at SC Empor Rostock, predecessor of FC Hansa Rostock , again in the second-rate GDR league . Here, too, he and his team achieved promotion within a year and immediately became a regular player as a right winger with 21 point games. However, he was missing in the final of the GDR soccer cup , which the Rostock team lost as a second division with 1: 2 against Lok Leipzig . Lembke experienced his most successful season in Rostock in 1958, when he was used in 22 of the 26 league games.

However, he lost this regular place in the following season when coach Krügel built the young Kleiminger and Drews into the Rostock attack formation. In 1959, Lembke only made seven league appearances, in 1960 the trained striker played only five point games as a left defender between March and May. He then ended the league chapter in his football career and, at the age of 30 , joined the team from Motor Nordwest Rostock , which played in the fourth-class regional league , where he finally completed his active career.
