Horst Müller (Author)
Horst Müller (born December 26, 1923 in Gleißen , Oststernberg district , today Poland ; † May 9, 2005 in Hoyerswerda ) was a German science fiction writer and librarian .
Life
After returning from prisoner-of-war camp, Müller graduated from high school in 1947, then worked initially as a teacher and later as head of the Hoyerswerda district library. In the meantime he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR . In 1968 he founded the youth club “Utopia” in his library, which existed until 1986, making it the longest-running science fiction fan club in the GDR. From 1983 Müller was a disability pensioner due to illness.
Müller initially published newspaper articles and poems. In 1960 he made his debut with the science fiction novel Signals from the Moon , followed by the sequel course Ganymede in 1962 . The latter was characterized primarily by criticism of obsession with power and the cult of personality and was considered a settlement with the Stalin era . After that, Müller published two more science fiction stories exclusively in Sorbian .
After a long break due to illness, his youth book Peter goes crazy was published in 1998 in a small publishing house.
