Horst Mann (born July 8, 1927 in Neustettin ; † October 15, 2018 ) was a German athlete from the German Democratic Republic (GDR) who was GDR champion in the 400-meter run in 1955 and 1956 .

Horst Mann took fifth place over 400 meters at the GDR championships in 1953. In 1954 he finished second behind Willi Bromberger in 48.5 seconds . In 1955 he won his first GDR championship title in 47.8 s, and in 1956 his second in 47.3 s. In 1954 he took part in the UIE Sports Weeks, the Universiade of the Eastern Bloc. He finished third over 400 meters and won gold in the GDR's 4 x 400 meter relay . In 1955 he was fifth over 400 meters and third with the relay. In 1956 he was able to qualify for the all-German team at the 1956 Olympic Games , but gave up there after injury in the preliminary run.

Horst Mann returned from captivity in 1949. He trained as a tool grinder and then studied engineering for shipbuilding. He started for the HSG Wissenschaft Rostock , in 1954 he joined the Rostock unit . He won his first championship title for HSG Wissenschaft Greifswald and in 1956 he was at SC Empor Rostock . Mann set four GDR records, he improved Bromberger's record from 47.7 s to 47.0 s, which he ran in Budapest in 1956. Horst Mann had a competition weight of 67 kg with a height of 1.78 m.
