Horst Meierhofer (born April 21, 1972 in Regensburg ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life

After graduating from the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium in Regensburg, Meierhofer began training as a banker at the Sparkasse Regensburg. He then studied business administration at the University of Regensburg and Murray State University, Kentucky , USA, and obtained a degree in business administration and an MBA . He worked as a marketing manager at a German specialist publisher .

Horst Meierhofer became a member of the FDP and the Young Liberals in 1993 . From 1997 to 1999 and from 2001 to 2003 he was chairman of the FDP district association Regensburg-Stadt. From 1996 to 2005 Meierhofer was district chairman of the Julis Oberpfalz and from 2009 to 2015 an assessor on the federal board of the FDP. In 2000 he became a member of the state board of the FDP Bavaria . Meierhofer has been a member of the Regensburg city ​​council since 2002 .

From 2005 to 2013 he was a member of the German Bundestag . He moved into the Bundestag via the Bavarian state list , his constituency was Regensburg . He was spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group for water protection, environmental planning and waste management and a full member of the committee for the environment, nature conservation and reactor safety . He was a founding member of the Free Flowing Rivers parliamentary group . In 2009, the Bavarian FDP MPs elected him chairman of their regional group in the German Bundestag. Meierhofer was deputy chairman of the committee for the environment, nature conservation and reactor safety, a full member of the tourism committee and a deputy member of the economic committee.

In 2013, Meierhofer was elected deputy FDP state chairman. He represents the Federal FDP on the board of the European Movement Germany network .

In 2014 he became the second managing director of the State Association of Energy and Water Management Hesse / Rhineland-Palatinate (LDEW).
