Horst Schütze

Horst Schütze (born January 19, 1927 in Cörmigk , Bernburg district ) is a former German politician and SED functionary.

Life

Schütze, the son of a working-class family, attended elementary and middle school and completed an apprenticeship as an administrative clerk. He then worked in the profession. In 1944/45 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service , then for military service in the Wehrmacht . In 1945/46 he was a British prisoner of war .

In 1947 Schütze joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and was a member of the German People's Police from 1947 to 1950 . In 1950 he was an employee of the council of the Halle (Saale) district , 1950/51 secretary of the Halle district peace committee. From 1951 to 1962 he acted as State Secretary Saxony-Anhalt and as District Secretary Halle of the Peace Council . From 1958 to 1962 he was also a member of the Halle district assembly . From 1956 to 1962 he completed a distance learning course at the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science . From 1963 to 1969 he was secretary of the Neubrandenburg district committee of the National Front and a member of the Neubrandenburg district assembly.

At the congress of the National Front of the GDR he was elected on March 22, 1969 as a member of the Presidium and Secretariat of the National Council. In 1973 he passed his role in the secretariat to Gerhard Opitz , but remained a member of the Presidium. From 1973 to 1989 he worked as deputy head of the " Friendly Parties " department in the Central Committee of the SED .

Schütze is a member of the Society for the Protection of Civil Rights and Human Dignity eV and lives in Berlin .
