Horst Schellhammer

Horst Schellhammer (born December 13, 1937 ) is a former German football player who played 43 games in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football, for the company sports association (BSG) Motor Steinach from 1963 to 1965 , scoring one goal .

Athletic career

Schellhammer played until December 1962 at Chemie Lauscha in the third-class II. GDR league . In the neighboring town, Motor Steinach was represented in the I. League and was looking for another defender. This was found in Schellhammer, which was used from February 1963 to the end of the season in all of the remaining 13 point games. After one year of membership in the GDR league, Motor Steinach made it to the GDR league in 1963. Schellhammer was mainly used as a central defender in the first league season of Steinacher and was used 21 times in the 26 point games. Already in the second half of the season, coach Heinz Leib Schellhammer occasionally used as a right defender, and in this position he usually played in his 22 league games in the 1964/65 season.

After the 1964/65 season Motor Steinach had to descend again from the league. In the GDR league, Schellhammer played for BSG Motor until 1971. In these six seasons with a total of 180 point games, he played 147 games. Every season he was able to register himself on the list of goalscorers and came up with nine hits. He then returned to BSG Chemie Lauscha, which has since played in the third-rate district league District Suhl since 1963 . After finishing his soccer career, Schellhammer became a trainer at Chemie Lauscha.
