Hossam Ghaly (حسام غالي, Born December 15, 1981 in Kafr el-Sheikh ) is an Egyptian former football player .

Career

society

Ghaly is mostly used in defensive or right midfield. He comes from the youth department of the most successful Egyptian football club al Ahly Cairo . Before moving to Spurs in London for three million euros in January 2006, he spent three years as a professional at Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

As of May 10, 2007, Ghaly's future was uncertain. On that day he was substituted on in the Premier League game against Blackburn Rovers in the first half for the injured Steed Malbranque and then replaced again later. In response, he took off his jersey and threw it on the floor in anger. This was followed by scornful chants from their own fans, a disciplinary measure and ultimately an apology from the player. Still, Ghaly hasn't played a game since that day. An almost perfect move to Birmingham City failed in August 2007 when he complained about the training conditions. In January 2008 he finally moved to the bottom of the table Derby County on loan for the rest of the season . After half a year in Derby , he returned to the "Spurs". Since he was not used in any competition in the first half of the 2008/2009 season, he moved to Al-Nasr for two million euros during the winter break .

National team

Ghaly plays for the Egyptian national soccer team with whom he became African champion in 2006. He was also a regular for the Egyptian U-21 national team, which won the bronze medal at the 2001 World Cup in Argentina .
