Hotel Borgen

The hotel Borgen ( colloquially also Allehandaborgen ) is a Swedish site Örebro riverside Svartån located building , which in 1891 in neo-Gothic style was built. Striking is the red brick building existing and round towers pierced facade , resembling a castle to remember, hence the name Swedish borrow . The architects responsible were Fritz Ulrich and Eduard Hallquisth .

history

The building was originally built for Örebro Sparbank and opened on September 1, 1892. In addition to bank rooms , it also contained apartments and a telegraph office. The son of the then bank director Claes Bergman , who later became Swedish writer Hjalmar Bergman , spent his childhood in one of these apartments.

From 1934 to 2013, the local newspaper Nerikes Allehanda was based in the building. The name Allehandaborgen comes from this time .

In 2014 Nordic Choice Hotels took over the building to furnish a hotel with 125 rooms. The opening took place in April 2016.
