Hotel Furstenhof (Kempten)
The Hotel Fürstenhof (formerly Café Schiff ) is the largest Renaissance building in Kempten (Allgäu) .
The listed building with the address Rathausplatz 8 is located on Rathausplatz and was first mentioned in a document in 1187. For over three centuries, high-ranking monarchs of the Hohenstaufen and Habsburgs such as Friedrich III stayed there. or Maximilian .
At the beginning of the 17th century it was converted into a patrician palace according to the Italian ideal . Today the building is decorated with a rococo facade . The interiors have been recently renovated 1976/1977 and the dormer placed. To the right of the building is the London Court .
During the renovation of the old town in Kempten - a federal pilot project in the 1950s - it was planned to demolish the Fürstenhof with a subsequent new building. This new building should clearly resemble the original house. As with the Müßiggengelzunfthaus, monument conservationists prevented its demolition.
