Klavs Hovman

Klavs Hovman (born October 27, 1957 in Århus ) is a Danish jazz musician ( electric bass , double bass , composition ).
Hovman worked with the singer Etta Cameron as well as with Pierre Dørge and Jens Søndergaard since 1979 . In 1989 he toured Germany with Peter Kowald , Jeanne Lee and his partner Marilyn Mazur in the Principal Life quartet . Since the same year he belonged to Marilyn Mazur's band Future Song , with whom he recorded several albums; He is currently a member of her quartet with Fredrik Lundin and Krister Jonsson. Since 2005 he (like Mazur) belongs to the trio of pianist Makiko Hirabayashi , with whom he recorded three albums and toured in Europe and Japan. He has also worked with Ernie Wilkins Almost Big Band, Toots Thielemans , Lee Konitz , John Abercrombie and Svend Asmussen . Hovman teaches at the Rytmisk Conservatory of Music and can also be heard on albums by Etta Cameron, Savage Rose , Putte Wickman , Pierre Dørge, Harry Beckett , Helle Hesdorf, Thomas Agergaard and Horace Parlan .
