Hovratt

A hovrätt is a court of appeal in Sweden and hovioikeus in Finland . The tingsrats are subordinate to him as the initial authority. The Högsta domstolen is superordinate in the instance .

The hovrätt / hovioikeus corresponds approximately to a German district court (where it acts as appeal court) or a higher regional court .

There are six hovrats in Sweden:

• Svea hovrätt in Stockholm ,
• Göta hovrätt in Jönköping ,
• Hovrats över Skåne och Blekinge in Malmö ,
• Hovratsten for Västra Sverige in Gothenburg ,
• Hovrätten för Nedre Norrland in Sundsvall and
• Hovratsten för Övre Norrland in Umeå

... and five hovioikeus in Finland:

• Helsingin hovioikeus in Helsinki ,
• Turun hovioikeus in Turku ,
• Vaasan hovioikeus in Vaasa ,
• Itä-Suomen hovioikeus in Kuopio and
• Rovaniemen hovioikeus in Rovaniemi .
