Hovratt
A hovrätt is a court of appeal in Sweden and hovioikeus in Finland . The tingsrats are subordinate to him as the initial authority. The Högsta domstolen is superordinate in the instance .
The hovrätt / hovioikeus corresponds approximately to a German district court (where it acts as appeal court) or a higher regional court .
There are six hovrats in Sweden:
- Svea hovrätt in Stockholm ,
- Göta hovrätt in Jönköping ,
- Hovrats över Skåne och Blekinge in Malmö ,
- Hovratsten for Västra Sverige in Gothenburg ,
- Hovrätten för Nedre Norrland in Sundsvall and
- Hovratsten för Övre Norrland in Umeå
... and five hovioikeus in Finland:
- Helsingin hovioikeus in Helsinki ,
- Turun hovioikeus in Turku ,
- Vaasan hovioikeus in Vaasa ,
- Itä-Suomen hovioikeus in Kuopio and
- Rovaniemen hovioikeus in Rovaniemi .
