Howard Duff

Howard Green Duff (born November 24, 1913 in Bremerton , Washington , † July 8, 1990 in Santa Barbara , California ) was an American actor .

Life

He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1932 . During his time he played basketball and theater. He then studied acting and played for several years at the Repertory Playhouse in Seattle . During World War II , he served in the radio division of the United States Army Air Forces from 1941 to 1945 . He then made his screen debut in the 1947 film drama Cell R 17, which was released in 1947 and directed by Jules Dassin, starring alongside Burt Lancaster and Hume Cronyn . Duff gained greater fame through his longstanding work in television series such as Mr. Adams and Eve , Dante , Dangerous Everyday Life and Flamingo Road .

Howard Duff died on July 8, 1990. He was married twice. From 1951 to 1984 he was married to the actress and filmmaker Ida Lupino . The relationship itself ended in 1966. They both had one child. He was married to Judy Jenkinson until his death. Duff has his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1623 Vine Street .
