Sexy! (TV Title: Sexy! Men should be on a leash , Original Title: Boys' Night Out ) is an American comedy film directed by Michael Gordon from 1962, based on a story by Marvin Worth and Arne Sultan .

action

Bachelor Fred Williams and his three married friends George, Doug, and Howard are Connecticut commuters who work in Manhattan . The four decide to rent an apartment in New York. An attractive blonde should be there for her there. Pretty young Cathy answers a newspaper advertisement and accepts the conditions.

The four friends do not know that Cathy is studying sociology and is working on her doctoral thesis entitled “The Immature Sexual Behavior of American Men in the Urban Area”, which she presented to her professor Dr. Prokosch wants to deliver. Prokosch is not convinced that she will find men who want to work with her. With skillful maneuvers, Cathy can get men to suppress their sexual desires. Although the nights they spend with Cathy are innocent, the three married men lie to Fred about the course of their nights with Cathy. Fred is jealous and makes her a proposal, which Cathy also accepts.

In the meantime, the three wives have found out what is going on in the apartment through the private investigator Bohannon. The ladies appear angry. Cathy explains her true motivation to everyone. Angry, Fred wants to leave, but the women and his mother Ethel can persuade him to return to the apartment. Fred becomes the fourth member of the group of married men who spend one night in the apartment once a week - together with their respective wives.

The title track, sung by Patti Page, and the song Cathy were composed by Sammy Cahn (lyrics) and Jimmy Van Heusen (melody).

Kim Novak, whose production company Kimco Filmways Pictures produced the film, starred in a film here for the first time after separating from Columbia Pictures . Reviews

The lexicon of international films called Sexy! as a "cleverly packaged parody of the sex statistics popular in the USA at the time". The film magazine Cinema said in its conclusion: "This is how you show over-excited admirers."

Variety was disappointed. As surprising and humorous as the original was, the viewer is forced to look for the comedic elements. They are only found sporadically in individual gags and situations. Also Bosley Crowther of the New York Times was cautiously. The beginning reminds me a little of Marty and Das Appartement , but this impression will be destroyed if the film turns into a marriage dispute.

Awards

The film received a nomination in 1963 for the Golden Globe Award in the category Best Comedy / Musical
