Frank De Vol
Frank Denny De Vol (born September 20, 1911 in Moundsville , West Virginia , † October 27, 1999 in Lafayette , California ) was an American band leader , arranger and composer who made a name for himself primarily through his film and television work Has.
Life
De Vol has received several Oscar nominations and is best remembered as a composer of comedies with a certain "slight touch". Mostly it is recorded as Frank De Vol, but sometimes Frank DeVol, Frank Devol or Frank deVol and in later years simply De Vol or DeVol.
His best-known film scores include a number of soundtracks created in the late 1950s and 1960s, for example for the Doris Day films Bettgeflüster (1959), What This Woman Does (1963) or Spy in Lace Panties (1966). Furthermore, in his long-standing collaboration with director Robert Aldrich, he created film music for What happened to Baby Jane? (1962), Lullaby for a Corpse (1964), The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) or The Dirty Dozen (1967). Other outstanding works include Cat Ballou - Hang You Should Be in Wyoming (1965) and Guess Who's Coming to Eat (1967; the last film with Spencer Tracy ).
In addition, he also appeared as an actor , such as “Mr. Eaglewood ”in The Marriage of Her Parents Announce (1961) or as a“ piano player ”in A Rabbi in the Wild West (1979).
