Howard Mark Wiseman

Howard Mark Wiseman (born June 19, 1968 in Brisbane ) is an Australian theoretical quantum physicist , who for his work on quantum control, quantum mechanical measurements , quantum information , control of quantum mechanical systems, fundamental questions of quantum mechanics and open quantum systems (i.e. those in contact with the environment ) is known.

Early life

Wiseman was born in Brisbane and received his Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Queensland in 1991 . There he completed his Ph.D. in 1994. in Physics under Gerard J. Milburn with his thesis Quantum Trajectories and Feedback . He is a professor at Griffith University .

Honors

Wiseman was awarded the Bragg Gold Medal from the Australian Institute of Physics in 1995 , the Pawsey Medal from the Australian Academy of Science in 2003, and the 2003 Malcolm McIntosh Prize for Physical Scientist of the Year from the Prime Minister's Prize for Science . He is a member of the Australian Academy of Science and the American Physical Society .
