The Howqua River is a river in the middle of the Australian state of Victoria .
It rises on the western slopes of Mount Howitt in Alpine National Park , flows west and flows into Lake Eildon , a reservoir of the Goulburn River .
Literature and film
The role of Billy Slim in Nevil Shute's novel The Far Country (after the film of the same name (German title: The Far Pass was) turned) is based on the figure of the fly fisherman Fred Fry , of several huts along the howqua River built and a quiet life led in the river valley.
