Hoxberg, Berg
The Hoxberg is an elevation in the Saarland of 414 m above sea level. NN south of the Prims between Saarwellingen and Lebach . The optical telegraph line Metz – Mainz , which went into operation in 1813 , led over the Hoxberg. The Hoxberg became known nationwide primarily for its unstable northern slope. This slipped in 1965/66 and totally destroyed 11 houses in Körprich . The main cause of the instability of the mountain are carbon layers of different ages lying directly on top of each other, which do not have a sufficient mutual connection. According to experts, "a kick in the right place is enough to get the Hoxberg sliding".
In 1987 there was a collision between two American F-5 and F-16 fighter planes , which crashed over the Hoxberg.
There is also a motocross track on the Hoxberg . Every year on Easter Monday a large motocross competition is held here.
The Kaltensteinpfad premium hiking trail in the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig route system leads over the Hoxberg.
