features

Hoya bawanglingensis is a climbing, epiphytic plant with thread-like shoots that are round in cross-section. Young shoots often have purple spots and are downy hairy; older shoots are bare. The fleshy leaves are arranged opposite one another. The leaf blades are ovate or elliptical with a pointed apex. At the base they are rounded or heart-shaped, the edge is covered with cilia. They measure 7.5 to 10.5 cm in length and 3.3 to 4.5 cm in width. The top and bottom are hairy downy. They have a few purple spots near the stalk; the number increases towards the tip of the leaf. The downy, hairy petioles are curved or slightly twisted and round in cross section. They are 1.2 cm long, dark purple or gray-green in color.

The inflorescence is umbel-like with 12 to 25 individual flowers. The stalk of the inflorescence becomes 7 to 10.5 cm long. It is green with purple spots and hairy down. The flower stalks are slender-thread-shaped and 2 to 2.2 cm long. They are whitish with purple spots and hairy down. The sepals are triangular and pointed. They overlap at the base. The approx. 1 cm in diameter large corolla is wheel-shaped with back curved corolla lobes. The corolla lobes are egg-shaped, 4 to 7 mm long and 4 to 5 mm wide. They are white with purple spots on the inside and outside; inside they are covered with white hairs. The secondary crown is whitish with a purple center. It has diamond-shaped corolla lobes with lateral projections. The secondary corolla are 3.5 to 4 mm long and 2 to 2.5 mm wide. The outer extension is pointed and has a longitudinal groove on the underside. The inner processes touch in the center. The Pollinia are gold colored, and about 600 µm wide and 300 µm wide. The dark purple colored follicles are spindle-shaped, 8 to 10.5 cm long and 0.8 cm thick. The ladies are elongated in plan view (4 × 1 mm), brown or dark brown with a white, silky head of hair that is approx. 3.5 cm long.

Geographical distribution and habitat
