Hoya brooksii is a plant of the genus of wax flowers ( Hoya ) of the subfamily of asclepiadoideae (Asclepiadoideae).

features

Hoya brooksii has very delicate shoots. The leaves are stalked, the petioles are thick and 5 mm long. The fleshy leaf blades are elliptical, 5 cm long and 2 cm wide. The apex is pointed, the base is wedge-shaped. The leaf veins cannot be seen, and the midrib is hardly visible. The sturdy inflorescence stalks are 3 cm long. The thread-like flower stalks are 5 mm long. The brown corolla has a diameter of 5 mm. The sepals are elongated-lanceolate and end blunt. The petal lobes are triangular and end in a small point. The corolla lobes are spread out, gullies underneath. The pollinia are elongated. The plant bloomed in June 1922.

Similar Art

According to Ridley, Hoya brooksii Ridl. to be related to Hoya polystachya flower. This species is a more recent synonym of Hoya latifolia G.Don. However, Hoya brooksii has many smaller leaves and much smaller flowers than Hoya latifolia .

Geographical distribution and habitat

The species has so far only been identified from the type locality Lubok Tandai, Bengkulu Province , Sumatra (Indonesia), approx. 330 m (1000 feet) above sea level.

Taxonomy

The taxon was described by Henry Nicholas Ridley in 1925 . Plants of the World online accepts it as a valid taxon. However, the species is very poorly known. CJ Brooks 7615 leg, collected in June 1922 by CJ Brooks, was published by Turner et al. set as the lectotype. It is now in the Herbarium at Kew Gardens , London (K000613013).
