description
Vegetative characteristics
Hoya davidcummingii grows as a climbing, perennial herbaceous plant. The little branched stems have a diameter of about 2 mm. Immediately below the node ( Nodien ), small form aerial roots from. The internodes are about 3 to 4 cm long. The opposite arranged leaves are divided into a petiole and a leaf blade. The short petiole is up to 1 cm long. The simple, bald leaf blade is elongated, elliptical and pointed with a length of 4 to 10 centimeters and a width of 2 to 2.5 centimeters. The leaf surface is dark green, the green is a little darker towards the edges. The underside of the leaf is a little lighter, without visible leaf veins.
Generative characteristics
The approximately 2 cm long inflorescence stem is bare. The inflorescence shafts do not fall off, but new flowers form on them. The umbellate , hemispherical inflorescence contains about 10 to 20 flowers. The anthesis lasts about 5 days, flowers can appear all year round. The flowers have no nectar and "have a pleasant fresh scent" or the smell is described as "buttery". The hermaphroditic, radial symmetry, five-fold flower has a diameter of about 1 cm (2 cm) and is purple or rose in color. The secondary crown is colored red in the center with yellow tips. The edges of the petals are slightly bent outwards when the flower is fully open, the ends are strongly bent.
Occurrence
The holotype of Hoya davidcummingii was found in the Bulusan Volcano National Park in the Sorsogon Province ( Luzon Island , Philippines) at the edges of forests.
