Hoya elliptica is a plant of the genus of wax flowers ( Hoya ) of the subfamily of asclepiadoideae (Asclepiadoideae).

features

Hoya elliptica is a perennial , climbing plant with twisting shoots. The stalk-round shoots are pale and glabrous and 4 mm in diameter. The leaves are stalked, the stems are flattened and 5 to 7 mm long. Leaf blades are oblong-elliptical, 4.5 to 10 cm long and 2.5 to 4.5 cm wide. They are fleshy, dark green, and bald. The base and apex are bluntly rounded. The edges are stiff and slightly bent back. The light, shield-shaped leaf veins are striking.

The umbel-shaped inflorescences are multi-flowered (up to 30 flowers) with a convex top. The inflorescence stalk is thick, slightly pink in color and about 2.5 cm long. The thin, pale pink flower stalks are 2.5 to 5 cm long and slightly downy. The sepals are oblong-egg-shaped, about 2 mm long and bluntly ending. They are pale pink and lightly downy hairy. The white corolla measures 1.5 to 2 cm in diameter. It is bald on the outside, sparsely covered with weak downy hair on the inside. The tips of the petals are inverted heart-shaped and finely pointed. The white tips of the secondary crown are very narrow, oblong, ovoid and blunt. The outer process is vesicularly ascending and apically narrowly keeled. The inner process is short sub-sub. The stylus head is flattened, slightly arched in the middle. The pollinia are elongated-sickle-shaped with externally attached membranous membranes ( wings ). The caudiculae are thick, the corpusculum very large. It is flat at the bottom and has two membranes ( wings ) on the sides . The spindle-shaped follicle is often pale pink and measures 15-20 cm in length and 0.5 cm in diameter. The flower smells of sweet perfume.
